Fresh New NETS

Introduction to Online Learning with Moodle

Overview

The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) proudly updated the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) in 2007. Changes reflect the need for students to develop an evolving 21st Century skillset.

Our rapdily changing digital evolution has created a generation of students with different learning styles from those of many educators. Preparing for a future where change is certain requires us to change from focusing on knowledge to process and skill development.

In this activity you will review the refreshed NETS and identify one that you would like to integrate into your teaching. You'll also be able to expand this idea into a 'blueprint' or plan for taking this activity into a virtual learning environment.

Objectives

  • select a NETS that you are interested in teaching
  • develop a plan for a learning activity in a virtual learning environment
