Surveying the Landscape of Online Education

Introduction to Online Learning with Moodle

Overview

The state of education as we know it is changing. With the recent explosion of online communication tools, online learning is growing faster than ever.

The North American Council for Online Learning (NACOL) is a relatively new organization devoted to K12 virtual schooling efforts. Through NACOL's research and advocacy, educators are able to find the support they need to stay current in this continually evolving field.

In this activity, you will use the Moodle Forum activity to assist in a modified Jigsaw reading activity of key NACOL publications to help you develop a knowledge base in the area of K12 online education.

Objectives

  • share readings about online learning with other educators
  • use the Moodle Forum activity to discuss takeaway concepts

Introduction

Use this tutorial to help you download YouTube videos.

Modified Jigsaw Forum

  • Follow the instructions within the forum to share your team's takeaways.
  • Create a group response to the reflections of a team who read the other report.

Debrief
